Ethics issues

Authors must certify that their manuscript is their original work and has not previously been published elsewhere. They must confirm that their manuscript is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors are bound to provide retractions or corrections of probable mistakes. All research involving humans, animals, and their data must comply with institutional, national, or international guidelines and should have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee. A statement detailing compliance with relevant guidelines and/or ethical approval (including the name of the ethics committee) must be included in the manuscript. Further information and documentation to support this should be made available to the editor on request. If a study has not been granted ethics committee approval prior to commencing, retrospective ethics approval usually cannot be obtained, and it may not be possible to consider the manuscript for peer review. The decision on whether to proceed to peer review in such cases is at the editor's discretion.
 

Consent to participate

For all research involving human subjects, informed consent to participate in the study should be obtained from participants (or their parent or legal guardian in the case of children under 16), and a statement to this effect should appear in the manuscript. When publishing identifiable images of human research participants in the MCI journal, authors include a statement in the published paper affirming that they have obtained informed consent for publication of the images. All reasonable measures must be taken to protect patient anonymity. Black bars over the eyes are not an acceptable means of anonymization.  In certain cases, we may insist upon obtaining evidence of informed consent from authors. Images without appropriate consent will be removed from publication.

 

Plagiarism Policies

MCI journal uses iThenticate software to avoid plagiarism in published papers. This web-based software rates the manuscripts with percent. For example, if a manuscript has 20% plagiarism, it means that 20% of the manuscript's words and sentences come from another source that is suspected of plagiarism. MCI Journal will follow the COPE guidelines in dealing with plagiarism.
